Yesterday I was at the Office Depot buying supplies and found a great USB Flash Drive for use with ActivePrint Traveler. Its an Ativa 4GB Thin USB Flash Drive. When they say thin on this one they mean it. It’s about a 1/16 of an inch thick and comes with a key chain loop. Its perfect if you are always on the go and need to bring along your data. The best part is that it was only $19.99! That’s a very reasonable price for 4GB of storage, especially given the physical size of the drive.

Its even better to install the ActivePrint Traveler Helper Application on so that you can also print from your phone while on the go.

Apple iPhone Version of ActivePrint Traveler News

I have some good news everyone. Things are finally in line to jump full force into development of ActivePrint Traveler for the Apple iPhone! Some of our customers who have been with Pocket Watch Software for a long time will know that this is a huge step for us since we have been exclusively with the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform ever since it was still called Pocket PC and Windows CE.

So after alot of research and scratching our heads on how best to bring printing to the iPhone, we’re moving in that direction. Here’s what you can expect when we do finally release ActivePrint Traveler for the iPhone:

Print photos, web pages, address book contacts, and plain text!
Utilization of the unique Apple iPhone interface
For developers, a means of adding printing functionality to your iPhone apps through ActivePrint Traveler

Printing On The Go – Doing Business While Away

As with any business, there are always plenty of contracts and papers sent between Pocket Watch Software and other businesses. Today I received a contract by email on my Blackjack in MS Word format while I was on campus at school. There was no way I was going to be able to get back to my office till this afternoon.

So first I used DataViz’s Documents To Go to read and review the contract while away from the office. After reading through it and seeing what I wanted in the contract, I was able to send it to my ActivePrint Traveler account for printing. Then I went to the nearest open access lab on campus and ran the ActivePrint Traveler Helper app from my USB drive to have the contract automatically printed from my account. From there all I had to do was sign it and fax it back.

Back to the business world after a successful of week of classes. I was able to demonstrate ActivePrint Traveler to someone by printing out the Adobe Acrobat version of our new How-To article which I keep a copy of on my Blackjack.

All I had to do was select the PDF file on my phone with ActivePrint Traveler, send it to my ActivePrint Traveler account, and run the ActivePrint Traveler Helper app from my USB drive on their office computer.

Printing On The Go – Remind Me From The Phone

First official entry for Printing On The Go today!

Even though this is Sunday and I’m not at school or the office today, I still found a good use for ActivePrint Traveler. While at church this morning I had several people telling me about upcoming events that I need reminders for as well as several things that I need to get done. While its nice to write some of these things down in the built in notes option on my Samsung Blackjack, I still need those reminders hard copy form. Having the printed copy makes it easier for me to remember. So I used the Notepad option in ActivePrint Traveler (screenshot).

The Notepad option is basically a plain text editor. So I wrote out several notes to myself. When I came back home I plugged in my USB drive into my desktop and ran the helper app (available here for free) which then automatically printed out all those reminders and todo lists.

Now off to the Super Bowl Party!

Introducing Printing On The Go – A New Web Series

I’m introducing�a new series of posts to the ActivePrint Traveler called “Printing On The Go”. The best part of ActivePrint Traveler is the ability to print from your phone�no matter where you are whether you’re at your office, at school, or away.

To demonstrate this I am going to start blogging about my use of ActivePrint Traveler in my own day to day life as I go through work here at Pocket Watch Software and�at school as I work on my second degree in the College of Business at Lamar University. As I go through this series you’ll get to see some examples of how ActivePrint Traveler could be used in your day to day life whether you’re in business, a student, or just an average user of your phone.

I’ll be doing a mix of regular text blogging as well a few YouTube videos of my use of�ActivePrint Traveler. Currently I’m using a Samsung Blackjack running Microsoft Windows Mobile 5 for Smartphones. So I’ll be using ActivePrint Traveler for Windows Mobile Standard.
