New Server Up And Online!
Posted by: Charles W. Teel in News on February 24th, 2009
A few days ago I posted about plans to upgrade to a new more powerful server that can support more printing from more users. Well, I’m happy to announce that this process is complete. For current users you will need to transfer your account by visiting our account transfer page. Account transfer is relatively quick (it only took me 15 seconds to transfer my account) and completely automated.
This is going to be particularly beneficial for when ActivePrint Traveler launches on the Apple iTunes AppStore since that will likely bring a huge wave of new users. With this new server our current users won’t experience any downtime due to the increased server load.
If you haven’t already, go get a copy of ActivePrint Traveler for your Windows Mobile Phone.
Or if you have a phone that runs an OS other than Windows Mobile, such as Apple iPhone or RIM Blackberry, we’re in the process of developing versions of ActivePrint Traveler for those platforms as well. Go sign up for our announcement list and you’ll receive the latest news on our development of ActivePrint Traveler for your phone.

I am happy to announce that the early stages of developing ActivePrint Traveler for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch has now begun! According to the development team the iPhone version of ActivePrint Traveler will be completed in approximately one month putting us well ahead of the initial estimate of a two month development period.
With ActivePrint Traveler on your iPhone you will have by far the easiet means of printing from your iPhone. Here is some of what you will be able to print from your iPhone once we’re done:
- Photos from your photo album and built in camera
- Web pages from the internet
- Contacts from your Address Book
- Plain text from the built in notepad app
All of these features will be available soon in the App Store on Apple iTunes both on your desktop and your iPhone!
Keep watching this site over the next few weeks for updates. We will be posting information on a regular basis so you will be able to watch the development process as we build the iPhone version of ActivePrint Traveler.

Service Upgrades Coming Soon
Posted by: Charles W. Teel in News on February 19th, 2009
I’ve got some more good news today! With the upcoming development project of an iPhone version of ActivePrint Traveler, we’re going to be doing some major upgrades to our service. Presently the ActivePrint Traveler service is an ASP .Net 3.5 Web Application using Microsoft SQL Server.
For the past several days I have been working on a port of the ASP .Net version to a PHP version which will use MySQL. Now, after all that technical junk, what does that mean for you? It means a much faster means of printing from your phone! I’m also working on adding the ability to send print jobs of greater than our current limit of 10 megabytes. My goal is to double it to 20 megabytes.
So, keep an eye out in the next week or so for an upgrade to your current Windows Mobile ActivePrint Traveler clients.
Apple iPhone Version of ActivePrint Traveler News
Posted by: Charles W. Teel in News on February 18th, 2009
I have some good news everyone. Things are finally in line to jump full force into development of ActivePrint Traveler for the Apple iPhone! Some of our customers who have been with Pocket Watch Software for a long time will know that this is a huge step for us since we have been exclusively with the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform ever since it was still called Pocket PC and Windows CE.
So after alot of research and scratching our heads on how best to bring printing to the iPhone, we’re moving in that direction. Here’s what you can expect when we do finally release ActivePrint Traveler for the iPhone:
- Print photos, web pages, address book contacts, and plain text!
- Utilization of the unique Apple iPhone interface
- For developers, a means of adding printing functionality to your iPhone apps through ActivePrint Traveler
These are just some of the features we plan to include in ActivePrint Traveler for the iPhone. Watch this blog for news about development as it becomes available. Or have these announcements sent to you weekly via email here.

Printing On The Go – Doing Business While Away
Posted by: Charles W. Teel in Printing On The Go on February 6th, 2009
As with any business, there are always plenty of contracts and papers sent between Pocket Watch Software and other businesses. Today I received a contract by email on my Blackjack in MS Word format while I was on campus at school. There was no way I was going to be able to get back to my office till this afternoon.
So first I used DataViz’s Documents To Go to read and review the contract while away from the office. After reading through it and seeing what I wanted in the contract, I was able to send it to my ActivePrint Traveler account for printing. Then I went to the nearest open access lab on campus and ran the ActivePrint Traveler Helper app from my USB drive to have the contract automatically printed from my account. From there all I had to do was sign it and fax it back.
Printing On The Go – Feb. 5th, 2009

Back to the business world after a successful of week of classes. I was able to demonstrate ActivePrint Traveler to someone by printing out the Adobe Acrobat version of our new How-To article which I keep a copy of on my Blackjack.
All I had to do was select the PDF file on my phone with ActivePrint Traveler, send it to my ActivePrint Traveler account, and run the ActivePrint Traveler Helper app from my USB drive on their office computer.
